Interesting observations about Agriculture > Pesticide use

This date set refers to KG per hectare, which is measuring the intensity of pesticide use per every hectare. While in bigger countries massive use of pesticide can be higher than Costa Rica which is here in first place, when you use the indicator that WRI is using, then you can have a better idea on which countries use pesticides more intensively (see the note on how is this indicator measured).

kilograms per hectare, is calculated by WRI by dividing the total pesticide consumption, measured in kilograms of active ingredients, by the total hectares of arable and permanent cropland.

The United States uses less pesticides per hectare than all the European Countries with GMO restrictions. We don't even register in the top 45.

The US does not even register in this study. So for all the fearmongering we use way less pesticides than those countries that have GMO restrictions.
