Definitions
- Cultural Diversity Index: The probability that two individuals selected at random from a country speak a very different language. A high score of close to 1 indicates that many unrelated languages are spoken. A score of close to 0 means that few languages are spoken, and / or that the spoken languages are similar to one another. For more information, please refer to Fearon (see citation).
- Destination countries of nationalities and ethnic groups > Australia > Main destination cities of African migrants: Shows the source countries of australian residents born in Africa, listing the main cities they choose to reside in and what percentage of immigrants from that country live in that particular city. For instance, the 2,771 immigrants from Ghana that lived at Melbourne at the time the data was gathered made 51% of total Ghanaian population in Australia, meaning that there were about 5,540 Ghanaians living in the country. Numbers come from the 2006 Australian census
- Ethnic Fractionalization Index: The probability that two individuals selected at random from a country will be from different ethnic groups, 0 meaning that each individual in this country is from the same ethnic group.
