Cross country comparisons based off these numbers aren't an accurate telling of how poor education is between countries, but rather how much of an issue poor education is in each country.

- Population below national poverty line > Urban: Percentage of country's population that lives in urban poverty. The poverty line is determined by each country separately.
- Population in multidimensional poverty > Proportion: Multidimensional Poverty Index.
- Population in severe poverty: Multidimensional Poverty Index.
- Population vulnerable to poverty > Proportion: Multidimensional Poverty Index.
- Richest 10% to poorest 10% ratio: The ratio of average income of the richest 10% of the population to the average income of the poorest 10% of the population.
- Richest quintile to poorest quintile ratio: The ratio of average income of the richest 20% of the population to the average income of the poorest 20% of the population.
